Yesterday Julia and I went and met Robb! He was such a nice guy and really helped a lot! He told us about himself and the photography business in general. Robb mainly does weddings and family portraits, because he loves to capture the essence that people give off. He told us how to get some good shots during basketball games and etc. Another thing he told us was just to enjoy what we are doing and not only to do it for the school but for ourselves as well. This weekend we went up to my lake house, and brought my niece up there for the first time! She absolutely loved it and I got a bunch of shots of her in her Christmas Pj's! We also talked about our lives and he was just a really cool guy in general! We asked him questions like what his favorite part about photography is, and what the hardest thing about photography is. I think however the best advice he gave me was that you want to make the person you are taking pictures of, feel comfortable in their own skin.

Today Julia and I sent Amanda Robbs assistant an email asking if Tuesday the 6th works! Hopefully everything works out. Once we get there I definitely want to ask whether or not our photos look good with an honest opinion. Also I want to ask him how to get some good shots of nature and of people while they move. I found out we are going to Florida sometime in January and The Bahamas during spring break so I want to bring my camera and take some pictures out there. Below is a picture I took at my lake house, theres an old abandoned barn that we always ride our horses up to just because the view of the lake is beautiful so I hope to get more pictures of the lake.

We have yet to set up a time with our mentor, i'm thinking about after the holidays, or during winter break due to it being a very busy time during the year. Below is a picture I took, I live on a golf course so there are a lot of opportunities for me to take gorgeous pictures like this one. I have gotten used to my camera and I really enjoy using it. I cant wait to take more pictures!

Amanda, Robbs assistant emailed me back and asked if Thursday at 4 worked, unfortunately Julia has dance and I have a coaching for speech team, so I sent her back this email.
"Hello Amanda, is there any day Robb can do next week? Thursday unfortunately doesn't work anymore due to a conflict that came up, I'm really sorry for the late reply, and apologize for the inconvenience.

Hopefully we can figure out a time that works for both of us. Over the weekend I went to my lake house and got some really adorable shots of the barn in my backyard. I was really proud of how they turned out! I also have gotten some great shots of Hurley my horse. Next weekend when we drive up there I hope to get some really cute pictures of the barn and the rest of the horses.

Today we planned out what day we are going to meet Robb, and get some tips. We composed an email that said
"Hey Robb,
"Hey Robb,
Its Amber Mohammed from Wheaton North. Last week I called and talked to you about being my mentor for my photography project! I just wanted to shoot you an email, and see what day we could meet and talk! It would be my partner Julia and I. We talked and Thursday of next week would work well for us, maybe around 4, however if that doesn't work for you we would be more than happy to work around your schedule! Anytime this month would be great. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Thanks, Amber"
Hopefully we find a day that works for both of us! So far I've been getting used to my camera, and taking pictures in my backyard. Living on a golf course I have a lot of opportunities to take some gorgeous pictures of nature. I'm really excited to get some tips and some feedback on the pictures I've taken. Robb seems like a really cool guy and I can't wait to meet him. I'm really excited to see this project come into action and i'm loving how the pictures i'm taking our turning out!

Today we are gonna start looking for a new mentor. In class we went in the hall and gave Robb Davidson a call, he is a wedding photographer here in Wheaton. We told him our plan and asked him a couple questions to start. We are going to email him and set up a time where we can meet. We are thinking about bringing a portfolio, and our cameras and hopefully get some tips and tricks about photography and pour cameras. http://robb-davidson.com/blog/ thats a link to Robbs blog, looking at his picture I have completely fallen in love with his style. The way he focuses on the people and makes the background blurry is gorgeous. I cant wait to start working with him and learn how to take pictures the way he does.

Today Julia and I presented our elevator pitch to the class, just so they know what we are doing. After school today I am going to go talk to the photography teacher about being our mentor, since she hasn't gotten back to us yet. Also over the weekend Julia and I are going to go to either North side or Adams Park, just to get used to our cameras, and get some cool shots of nature. With my family I went to a pumpkin patch and played around, surprisingly I got some really nice shots and I was really happy with how the pictures turned out. Hopefully they turn out good this weekend, and i'm excited to get see some of the shots Julia has taken. So far i'm loving my camera and the fact that I know how to use it makes me really happy. I really like taking shots that focus on a certain thing, and the blur the background out.

this is a picture I took, playing around with my camera over the train tracks and I love how it turned out.

This week I got used to my camera! Sadly our mentor still hasn't answered, but I made plans to take pictures of some of my friends just to practice. Over the weekend I played around with the different functions in my camera by taking pictures with my friend. Today during class I worked on my proposal responding to the comments, however i'm not going to turn my form in until the photography teacher gets back to us! Next week we are going to bring our cameras in and just practice taking some shots. Tomorrow, we are heading to the last football game to begin taking our pictures.

I ended up not going to the football game, due to the weather however I did start messing around with the functions on my camera. Today in class we emailed the photography teacher here at North. We want her to be our mentor for this project, since she can give us lots of tips on how to use our camera. The email was composed of how and why we would like her to help, and asked if she could answer a few questions once or twice a month, either in person or over email. We also introduced ourselves and what the project is all about! Last week I went around the golf course, that I live on, and took some picture, just to get used to the feel of using this camera! I'm super excited to get to know more about my camera, and cant wait to start taking some gorgeous pictures!

Today Julia and I finished our proposal form. I also got my Camera charger. Over the next couple of weeks, we will both begin working on the functions, on the camera.
This is a picture of the camera I will be using, that's a diagram of the functions. I'm super excited to get started and messing around with the different portions of the camera!

This is a picture of the camera I will be using for my project, this week I pulled it out and began messing with the fixtures. The only problem I have is that I cant find the charger for the battery. So this week I will begin the search for a charger.

Today I partnered up with Julia and decided to completely change my project. Since we both are into photography we wanted to teach ourselves some cool techniques. So far we aren't sure what to call our project but are super excited for it! We were thinking about photographing at most school sports games! Also about going around the school, and finding places to photograph. Both of us live around scenic areas so we decided to take pictures around there too! We want our mentor to be the photography teacher here at North, we hope she can give us some tips. We can either meet with here face to face or shoot her an email if we have any trouble. With most of our pictures we hope to give them the yearbook club teacher to be published. I have a camera at home that I can use, and Julia can ask her Dad or her Uncle. Since we both have similar schedules it is easy for us to meet up and take pictures together. There is barely a cost for this project since we already have the resources we need. The only thing we need to pay for are the cost for the pictures to be printed. We hope this project turns out great and are excited to see the outcome!

Today I partnered up with Maggie, and we decided to make our 20 time project thrifts for teens. This is going to help underprivileged teens make clothes they wish they had. We are going to take donated clothes and spice them up to make them look more appealing. Over the next 8 months we want to accomplish many things and hope to stay true to our timeline. We hope not to fall behind and want a good outcome. By the end of this project we hope our collection consist of a shirt, a pair of pants, and a formal dress, a good base for any wardrobe. The costs will be split evenly between us. By showing girls our age how to make outfits they would love, we are boosting their confidence. Our mentor will be my aunt due to her past experience with clothing. She has been a beautician for multiple years and will gladly help with our project. I know when I have an outfit that I absolutely love I feel so much better about myself and want to be more productive. We want to let girls who aren't as privileged feel that joy. Who said that donated clothes had to be gross, we want to show teens that they can make things their own with a little hard work and dedication.
